What is Internship?

The Westover Hills Volunteer Internship is a semester-long, behind-the-scenes look at what we do in ministry at Westover Hills Church. If you think you may be called to church ministry or are just interested in getting more involved, this internship offers weekly leadership lessons, Bible study time, personal accountability, & means for you to grow as a leader & disciple of Jesus. Plus, it’s a great way to make meaningful relationships with other students & young adults like you.

Each week may look a little different in each team. We will be working on different projects, like: planning services & upcoming events, writing “Thank You Cards” for guests, working in various roles throughout the ministry during weekend services, cleaning various rooms & areas, stacking chairs, calling students and inviting them to a service, updating our online database, setting up games & gathering supplies, making copies, lifting & moving materials for events & services.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications are due by Sunday, November 30.
The first day of Internship will be Saturday, January 3rd at 2 PM & be held in Room 100.
The last day of Internship will be Sunday, May 17th following the last Westover Weekend Service.
You must have already served previously in any area at Westover Hills Church.
As part of the application, please record a video (no less than 2 minutes and no more than 6 minutes) of yourself answering the following questions:

How do you plan to make an impact in this internship?
Can you provide an example of when you demonstrated teamwork?
How do you deal with conflict and gossip?
What leadership qualities make you qualified to be an intern?
How do you handle constructive criticism/feedback?
What does your devotional life/time with the Lord look like?

Once your video is recorded, upload it to either YouTube or Google Drive. Be sure to set the video to public or anyone with the link and share the link in the answer box below at the end of application(make sure your permissions are correct).
Please note that there will be no in-person interviews. Instead, your video submission will serve as your interview. The Family Ministry team will reach out to you with your acceptance results by Saturday, December 6th.

ALL INTERN REQUIREMENTS

Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School, High School, Creative, ESP Kids

To honor a healthy rhythm of work and rest, interns are allotted 10 total days of absence throughout the duration of the internship. This allowance reflects the principle of Sabbath—a sacred rhythm of rest that sustains long-term ministry health and spiritual vitality.
In practice, this equates to one missed Sabbath weekend (Saturday and Sunday are counted as two separate days) per month. We believe rest is not an interruption to ministry—it’s an act of worship and obedience that allows us to return refreshed, focused, and ready to serve with excellence.

Saturdays - 3 PM- 6:30 PM (3.5 hours)
Sunday - 8 AM- 1:30 PM (5.5 hours)

We believe that ministry is about people, this is why it is a requirement for weekend interns to be present every weekend for kids & student services & at all Family Ministry Events. These are the most optimal times we have to connect with kids, students, & families to help begin the process of making disciples in real-time.

All Interns are encouraged to attend all Family Ministry Events on-campus/off-campus.
If an intern is unable to attend any Ministry Event or Internship Meeting for any reason, the intern is required to let their supervisor know a week in advance & provide a viable reason
All interns are required to attend at least 1 weekend service per week
All interns are required to arrange prior drop off/pick up arrangements.
